What to Expect:
You will be digging up your own dahlia plants (tubers and stems/flowers) – it’s rewarding, hand-on work but can be quite physical and muddy, so please come prepared!

What to Bring:
• Full size garden spade or fork – trowels won’t be enough for the heavy digging
• Secateurs – to cut down foliage and make plants easier to lift and transport
• Strong containers – such as crates, buckets or garden sacks (avoid bin liners)
• Labels, string, and a pen – to tag your tubers as you go; they all look alike once lifted!
• Practical clothing and footwear – wellies or boots and gardening gloves are essential! A raincoat is also advised as the weather can be unpredictable, and the field is open with no cover.
• Wheelbarrow - if you plan to dig up multiple tubers.
